If you know me then you know how much I LOVE traveling! One of my favorite places to go is to Salt Lake City! So for Christmas last year I gave tickets to Doug for Wicked. So we made a little family vacation out of it and had lots of fun! We left Thursday Aug 16 which is also Grammie and Grampie's anniversary. They have been officially married for 44 years this year!
To celebrate the old Anniversary we went to the new Creekside Mall where they now have the Cheesecake Factory. It was yummy and fun!
Karston is in a contest where they have to take Flat Allie who is the mascot for his dentist office everywhere they go during the summer. Then they upload the pictures on Facebook and whichever picture gets the most votes wins an iPad! So hopefully all our friends won't let us down so we can win! Anyway funny story with this little lad though. He had to go to the potty so we took him and he was doing his business when all of a sudden the automatic flushing toiled automatically flushed while he was still on! Thankfully he was done doing his business when this happened and jumped so quickly off that toilet you would have thought it was on fire! HILARIOUS! Then whenever anyone said they had to go to the potty he would quickly respond with a "Be Careful." It was the best moment of the trip..... well right up there anyways! He was pretty cautious of all potties after that!
After eating we wondered around the mall. I still haven't seen the entire thing because it is SOOOO big. But boy is it beautiful! I love this mall now if the stores would just lower their prices a smudge so I can afford to buy stuff would be nice!
Jayden liked having grammie chase after him. It was pretty cute. The little things babies just LOVE!
I really don't know what he was doing in this picture, but the poor boy looks like he saw a ghost or something. Hahaha makes me laugh every time I look at it!
The mall was pretty tiring. I didn't even notice the background of this picture! Love it!!! That little baby hand ohhhhh I love him!
When we got back to the Kimball we unpacked. I threw the shoes out and then when I came back into the room this is what I found. ALL our shoes lined up according to Oldest to Youngest! How cute is that! Thanks Karston. Your such a good helper to your mommy!
Friday we went to the Gateway to find Doug a new pair of shoes. We were going to let the kiddos run through the water there, but they fell asleep before that happened. We took the tracks and let me tell you what's not so much fun.... Trying to get a DOUBLE stroller on in the short amount of time the give you to get on. Especially when you have to carry it up the stairs. We may or may not have gotten into trouble by the Track driver!
We went home and took naps then my AWESOME cousin Kari came up from Syracuse to watch the boys so that we could go see Wicked! Here we are at the Capitol Theatre eagerly waiting!
I was sooooooo super excited! I love Broadway. We wanted to see this when we were back in New York, but unfortunately it was sold out.
I was naughty and took some pictures inside the theatre. You apparently aren't supposed to do that for some unknown dumb reason. It was pretty nice inside. So again I may or may not have gotten into a little trouble when they caught me! No matter I still got to keep my pictures of what I wanted to!
The awesome dragon that actually did stuff during the show!
The Balcony! I think I would have liked those seats just a little bit better, but I can't complain because we did have AMAZING seats close to the front!
I have to say that was money very well SPENT! Doug and I both LOVED it! They could not have had a better cast especially for the main characters! Galinda and the Wicked Witch were my very most favorite! They were so funny and just played their characters soooo very well! It was wonderful and I would so love to see it again!
That night can I just say was a NIGHTMARE with Jayden he was up every 15 Minutes coughing non-stop. I finally at about 4:30 a.m. decided he needed some relief and the only thing I had was some of his Croup medicine. I gave it to him and BAMM it helped him so much. So I think I might either have an Allergy baby or an Asthma baby on my hands. :( It was pretty smokey there and so I think it was getting to him. Of course because it was a horrible night we also had to get up early because we had to be to Heber by 10:30 Saturday morning. We took the kids to ride the Heber Creeper. We were all so tired and by all I mean me, Jayden, and Grammie, BUT we still had a fabulous time!
Karston with the Railroad Crew and Flat Allie!
The boys! Looking so dang cute!
Love this little picture we got before the train ride!
In the gift shop! They had some WAAYYY Cute stuff so if you have any kids that just LOVE trains this is the place to go. I found my favorite book here "The Little Train that Could!" Love it!
My cute little Engineer!
Here we are all trying to squeeze into the caboose! I didn't take the time to edit any of these pictures. Sorry.... we really are all in there though!
I love this picture I thought it turned out way super cute!
Thanks Grammie and Grampie for bringing us here! This is SOOOOO FUN!
The Boys!
Karston handing the Conductor his ticket! Isn't he just so cute!
Boarding the AWESOME train!
Here we are! All ready to go!!!!
Me and My Honey!!!
Utter excitement from mr Jay-B-Jay! Look at those little teeth!
Karston not wanting to smile for momma :(
Every time the train would blow the whistle this is the face we got from Jayden. It truly is one of my most favorite faces that he does! Look at those blue eyeballs!
At the halfway point we encountered a problem. We were robbed yup robbed. So scarry!
Karston was very VERY nervous. You know how they tell you to put your hands up... Well he took this VERY seriously. He kept yelling at me Put your hands up mom... Put your hands up.
Then came the gun shots . That definently didn't go over very well. ESPECIALLY when you have two kids that really HATE or better yet DISPISE loud noises.
This was the reaction after the gunshots and after they raided the train. Jayden cried and Karston.....
Sat like this. Look at that scarred little face. Doug couldn't stop laughing.
After all that action was done they had this cute girl come out and play some fun songs! She is only 15 and was simply amazing! Karston and Jayden liked this part. So the above pictures ended when this started! Thank Goodness for music!
Karston, Daddy, and Grampie kept talking to each other out the window. Karston loved this part especially. Grampie was a great sport. I think he had his head out for most of the trip!
Me and my Boys!
Jayden on the way back decided he was missing out by not looking out the window so he joined in on the fun!
Then he decided it was time to snuggle with daddy for a little bit!
At the end of the 1st ride they stop at a nice little park with a creek and trees and picnic areas and let the kids and everyone who wanted to get out play, or walk around for a little while. It was a nice break, and just what we needed.
Then on the way back the kids decided they were tired so they both crawled under the train benches to sleep... that is they tried before momma made them get out!
Shortly after this was the result! Jayden took over the bench I sat in and Karston....
Snuggled with me! I love it when babies snuggle up with me and go to sleep. Especially MY babies!
Sunday Grampie and I started out the day going to Music and the Spoken Word! I love going to this when I am down there. You just can't go there stay right next door to where they perform and not go. As always they did an absolute beautiful service. They talked about the importance of forgiveness and just Letting things go when bad things happen. I needed to hear it and the songs they picked to go along with it brought a tear to this old gal's eye! I love the spirit that is always present there. It was also neat to see that as we came out all these young Sister Missionaries where standing outside inviting people to come learn more about the Gospel. I admire missionaries so very much. I don't know if I am brave enough to go out and teach the gospel so I just try to do my best preaching by my example. Sometimes I do well and sometimes not. But I am very grateful for the blessing the Gospel is in my life and for the joy and safety in which I feel because of it!
Anyway on with Sunday. After we went to the broadcast while everyone was getting ready Grampie, Doug, Karston, and myself went for a little walk, and of course I didn't take my camera and something exciting happened! We went to the little gardens that are around the Condo's . They are so beautiful and well taken care of. It was a nice little walk. Then we walked over to the City Creek Park, and while there not even joking we saw a parade of like 5,000 bikers. It was neat, but again very loud which doesn't go well with Karston who despises LOUD noises.
After the parade we went back and gathered everybody else up (Jayden and Grammie) and went over to Cabella's MOSTLY for the boys.
Karston was super stoked about the fish tank! Look at the excitement on his face. Sorry son we will NEVER have a fish tanks so enjoy it while you can! This momma don't clean fish tanks!
Jayden couldn't figure out what was inside those don't look anything like Grandma Purcell's fish. :)
I just thought this had to be the UGLIEST fish in the tank. I don't know what it is but its ugly.
Karston kept telling me over and over again that this fish was in time-out!
This poor little fish was in LOVE with this pole. He stayed there the entire time talking to it and every once in a while it would kiss it. Like it is doing now!
You can't go to Cabella's and not do their little shooting game. I did pretty well. Not as well as Grampie and Doug but I hit a good few!
I mean business!
Doug trying to aim at something before Karston pulled the trigger. He had to be a REALLY quick aim cause Karston didn't want to wait. He loved it though. He would have stayed all day there if we had an endless supply of Tokens!
Go Grammie! She shot 1 our the 3 that was left of my bullets!
After Cabella's we went back to the Kimball, and walked over to Temple Square. (Another one of my favorite places) I don't know what this statue is or who it is but I just love it!
What a cute lookin bunch!
The flowers there were simply GOURGEOUS!
Jayden taking it all in!
Loving walking around with no shoes which we forgot at the Kimball. I know great parenting huh!
Karston was really into the fountains.
Jayden was really into the Flowers! No-No Jayden was repeated a few times!
What did you say mom? No? Is that what you said? No I don't think that is what she said? If she did say that then I will just pretend like I am 1 and I don't know what that word means!
Look at those cute little dirty feet!
Our 1 Decent family picture!
Love these ones of Doug and Jayden. I just wished I would have taken more time to Center this shot. I just pointed and shot it! Still cute even though I cut Doug off!
Love this picture of Doug! So handsome!!!
The rest of our pictures turned out like this with Karston's mouth WIDE open! Little Stinker!
We had no idea that right behind were we were staying was where Presidant Heber C. Kimball and 14 other people are burried. It was pretty neat to see and read the wonderful monument!
It was simply a wonderful trip. We had a lot of fun together. We appreciate Grammie and Grampie letting us tag along for this fun weekend! Can't wait for November to come so we can go back and watch the Christmas light parade! Sooooooo much Fun I tell ya!
P.S I AM NOW OFFICIALLY CAUGHT UP ON THE BLOG! CAN I GET A WOO!WOO!!!
